We had an amazing weekend. Griffin and I were able to fly up to Salt Lake City, Utah, to visit some of our closest friends Leslie and Alex. They moved there the beginning of this summer and we miss them dearly. It was so good to spend a long weekend with them hiking, learning about that city, visiting surrounding areas including Park City where the Sundance Film Festival is held. It was beautiful there. This city is in a valley surrounded by mountains..which made the turbulence flying in and out exciting to say the least..( I think I almost broke Griffin's arm off...) Well, it was really great and exciting to see them, and just have down time., oh and I got to wear my fleece! It was great to come from 100 plus degree weather to the 50s and 70s. Good news is when we got back to Houston they had experienced a cold front, and even though it's only 90 outside, I'm pretty sure it feels like it's 75 to me.
So, earlier in the weekend we went hiking with them and our friend Laura's brother Matt who also lives there. It was a blast. Now, if youk now me at all you know I am terrified of bees (probably because I am highly allergic to them). SO, as we are climbing up this trail, all these families are tellling us to be careful because they got stung, and I'm reassuring everyone that I have my epi pen so I'll be fine in case anythingi happens. Ha! So, in my brilliance, I put on my fleece with the hood on my head all zipped up as i hike through the most bee congested area. I guess for some reason I was thinking if I cover my body I will be protected from the bees, which we all know isnt true. But, whatever I can tell myself I guess.. I was fine and didnt get stung.. maybe it was all the terrifying ugly looks I was giving them. Alex apologized for taking me on a "death march," which I told him was fine, he didnt know and we all laughed about it later. It was gorgeous though when we got to the lake, and Griffin did a little fishing.
Park City was gorgeous. We ate dinner at this microbrew pub, sat outside because it was in the 60s! Fabulous, and so much fun. We explored and walked around the cute, gorgeous town and ended the night going to this whisky distillery and meeting this cool bar tender from London and talking with him about the place and his adventures, and cool things to do in England. We got this new camera, and I am learning how to use it, and hopefully will get into a class soon to learn more, and then learn our adobe lightroom software as well. I love photography... always have, and taking pictures is something i would love to really learn how to do well. .
Pray for Texas and all the wildfire's going on. Smoke has filled the air in Houston and it's not easy for anyone to be outside breathing all that in. We are moving this weekend to a new apt, so hopefully that goes smoothly and we stay there and do not have to move for a while... I cannot tell you how much I hate moving, packing, and unpacking.
I hope you've had a fabulous week and your weekend goes well!
Sounds like an amazing time! I love the new blog look, too. I hope the move goes well!
